Beverly Louise Glosser

Beverly Louise Glosser, age 91, a lifelong resident of Kokomo, Indiana, passed away on Friday, April 12, 2024. She was born February 16, 1933, to Verne and Elsie Deardorff.

She married William J. Glosser on June 27, 1958. Bev was the matriarch of the family. She raised her own children, then helped raise her grandchildren, and even her great grandchildren. She loved all of them as if they were her own, including her fur babies too. She was a hard worker. She worked for Accurate Parts for over 25 years before her retirement. She also spent some time as a waitress at Richard’s and other restaurants. She enjoyed working with the public and meeting new people.

She and her husband, William, loved to travel together. They made trips to Illinois specifically for lottery tickets before they were sold in Indiana and usually took a few grandkids with them on the adventure. Bev spent a lot of her time at the casino playing the slot machines. It was truly her favorite way to pass the time.

Bev is survived by her daughter Cathy Young; her grandchildren Melissa Long (Joe), William Glosser (Michelle), Brandy Allen (Rob), Mandy Thurman (Robert), Leann Hall; her great-grandchildren Kyle Wetzel, Dylan Long, Jay McKinney (Bethany), Robert Thurman, Brittany Jameson (Bradley), Debbie Hall, Kaylee Hamilton, Jaycee Allen and her great-great-grandchild Mason Wetzel.

Bev was preceded in death by her husband William Glosser; her parents Verne Deardorf and Elsie Deardorff; her sisters Barbara Woods, Marilyn Preston, Ruby Bordner and her sister-in-law Pat Ryan.

A visitation for Bev will be held Thursday, April 18, 2024, from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM at Sunset Memory Garden Funeral Home & Cemetery, 2097 West Alto Road, Kokomo, Indiana 46902, followed by a funeral service at 12:00 PM.

Laura Belle Cook

Laura Belle Cook, age 87, of Kokomo, Indiana passed away on Wednesday, April 17, 2024, at 7:58 AM at her son's residence, surrounded by her loving family. She was born in Kokomo to the late Lee Paul and Evelyn Alberta (McQuiston) Bone on June 18, 1936. Laura married Harold Cook on June 23, 1954, and he preceded her in death on November 9, 1992.

Laura spent her life caring for her grandchildren. Once they were all grown, she worked for Howard County Children's Center, where she retired. She enjoyed attending her church, Brookside Free Methodist Church. Her passion was baking birthday cakes for her grandchildren. She also enjoyed gardening flowers and spending time with her family.

Surviving are two sons, Steve (Connie) Cook and Brian Cook; daughter-in-law, Janie Cook; son-in-law, Dennis Pyke; eleven grandchildren, Tony Cook, Gary (Tami) Cook, Chad (Terri) Cook, Matt (Harmony) Cook, Adam (Vanessa) Gibson, Michelle (Paul) Munoz, Nate (Sierra) Gibson, Amber (Chad) Appleton, Jake (Allison) Gibson, Kayla (Adam) Huff, Blaine (Hailey) Pyke; and many great-grandchildren and great great-grandchildren.

Preceded in death is her loving husband, Harold; son, Greg Cook; two daughters, Pam Gibson and Penny Pyke; and two grandchildren, April Gibson and Justin Cook.

There will be a time of visitation for Laura on Friday, April 19, 2024, at Sunset Memory Garden Funeral Home, 2097 West Alto Road, Kokomo, from 11:00 AM until the time of service at 1:00PM. Pastor Jeff Bradley and Doug Benham will be officiating. Burial will follow to Sunset Memory Garden Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made in Laura's memory to Brookside Free Methodist Church, envelopes will be available at the funeral home.

Betty L. Dick

Betty L. Dick, 93, of Walton, went home to be with the Lord, Sunday, March 24, 2024. She was born December 22, 1930, in Peru, Indiana, to Clarence L. “Lee” and Georgia E. (Titus) Prather. She was a 1950 graduate of Indiana Business College and went on to work for the State Hospital in Logansport as a QMA for many years.

Betty loved the Lord and was very involved with her church family at Walton Christian in Walton, Indiana. She was a member of the Sugar and Spice Home Ec. Club at Walton Christian and served on the funeral dinner committee for many years. She was also a member of the Bunko group; the Card Club of the Walton Public Library and she was involved with the buddy bag program at Lewis Cass School Corp.

Surviving family include her children, Barb (Scott) Wood, Russ (Anne) Dick and daughter in law, Gayla Dick. She is also survived by grandchildren, Othello Wood, Philip (Danielle) Wood, Russell (Leah) Dick, Jeremy Dick, Joey (Michelle) Dick, Andrew (Ashley) Dick, Kevin (Lauren) Dick, Samuel (Allison) Dick and Brian (Samantha) Dick. Surviving great grandchildren include Gatlin, Kanaan, Wyatt, Bryson, Norah, Caleb, Tyler, Kennedy, Cohen, Westin, and Madelyn. She is also survived by siblings, Linda (Ed) Nelson, Jane Lewis, sister-in-law, Jeanette Prather and several nieces and nephews. Betty is preceded in death by her parents, son Joe, siblings, Robert and Jack Prather, Ruby Mullen, Dorothy Foust, and brother-in-law, Clyde Lewis. She is also preceded in death by her former husband, Robert “Bob” Dick.

Visitation will be held from 4 – 8 p.m. Friday, April 19, 2024, at Murray Weaver Funeral Home in Galveston. Funeral services will follow on Saturday morning, April 20, 2024, at 10:00 am at Walton Christian Church with Pastor Bill Collins officiating. Betty will be laid to rest at Ever Rest Memorial Park Cemetery in Logansport.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to Walton Christian Church in Betty’s memory. Murray Weaver Funeral Home has been entrusted with arrangements. www.murrayweaverfuneralhome.com.

Amy Jo Reed

Amy Jo Reed, 56, Indianapolis, passed away Saturday, April 13, 2024, at her home. She was born August 19, 1967, in Kokomo, the daughter of James C. & Ethel M. (Thompson) Ailor.

Amy was a 1985 graduate of Maconaquah High School. She worked as a Histotechnologist for Laser & Skin Surgery of Indianapolis. Amy loved making crafts, especially wreaths. She also enjoyed gardening, hiking, reading, traveling, and family get togethers.

Amy is survived by her mother, Ethel M. Ailor; children, Cassie (Robert) Hines and Blayke Reed; grandchildren, Aeva, Bryan, Daylin and Evie; siblings, James Ailor, Erin Smith and Sally Earlywine.

Amy was preceded in death by her father, James C. Ailor; and sister, Kelly Carpenter.

A service celebrating Amy’s life will be held at 4:00 p.m. Saturday, April 20, 2024, at Shirley & Stout Funeral Home & Crematory, 1315 W. Lincoln Road, Kokomo, with Pastor Jason Grant officiating. Friends are invited to visit with the family from 2 p.m. until time of service on Saturday at the funeral home.

Robert "Bob" Wayne Kiser

Robert "Bob" Wayne Kiser, 69, a lifelong resident of Kokomo, Indiana, passed away on Monday, April 15, 2024, after a long battle with cancer. He was born February 2, 1955, and he was one of four children.

Bob was a huge fan of Notre Dame, especially their Women's basketball. He loved talking to his friends about Notre Dame and discussing their plays. Bob didn't know a stranger, he made friends wherever he went. He worked for many companies including Wholesale Electric, Englewood Electric, Wabash Electric, Northwestern School Corporation, Delphi, and eventually retired from GM in Marion. He enjoyed gardening and working outside in the yard. Bob made sure that his lawn was dandelion free. He was a member of the Greentown Lion's Club and an active member of Hillsdale Community Church.

Bob is survived by his loving wife Peggy Kiser; children Cara Kiser and Ryan Kiser (Alyson); his grandchildren whom he let get away with everything Cooper Kiser, Harper Kiser, and Connor Kiser; sister Mary Ingle (Kevin); nephews Nick Ingle, Kirk Ingle, and Jason Kiser (Caroline).

Bob is preceded in death by his father Robert Kiser; mother Patricia Monroe; sister Ada Kiser; and brother John Kiser.

A visitation for Bob will be held Tuesday, April 23, 2024, from 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM at Ellers Mortuary & Crematory Center, 3400 S. Webster Street, Kokomo, Indiana 46902, followed by a funeral service at 1:00 PM. The family asks that guests wear their Notre Dame gear in honor of Bob. He will be laid to rest in Kokomo Zion Cemetery, 5051 County Rd E 400 N, Kokomo, Indiana 46901.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Bob's name may be made to We Care of Kokomo or Kokomo Urban Outreach.

Donald Earl “Don” Harris

Donald Earl “Don” Harris, 81, of Kokomo, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his family at 3:24 am on Tuesday, April 16, 2024. Born on February 16, 1943, in Kokomo, he was the son of the late James Harris Sr. & Helen (Campbell) Newman. On September 12, 1992, in Kokomo, he married Bridget Huskins, who survives him.

Don was a proud veteran, having served with the United States Navy from 1965-1967 in Vietnam. His service was recognized with the National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal with two Bronze Stars, and the Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal. After his military service, he was the manager for the Chuckbox restaurant in Tempe, Arizona from 1971-1987, which then was a startup that still thrives after 50 years. After moving back to Kokomo, he was an agent for Farmers Insurance 1987-2016. He was a graduate of Mesa High School, class of 1961, and attended South Creek Church of God.

Don was a man of simple pleasures. He loved his daily walks, family meals, and weekly dinners & cards. His granddaughter’s pineapple pudding was a particular favorite dessert. He enjoyed traveling with his wife & brothers, riding his Harley, watching NFL football, playing cards, board games, and boating.

Don is survived by his wife, Bridget, and his children, Carolyn (Nate) Smith, Jennifer Ahles, and Joshua Griner. He was a proud grandfather to Kylie Smith, Zachary Smith, Luke Smith, Braeden Dubois, Bella Griner, and Finleigh Griner. He is also survived by his siblings, James Richard (Reta) Harris, Fred (Nancy) Harris, Rebecca Granieri, Jaimie Reef, and Jimmy Harris, along with several nieces and nephews. He leaves behind brothers-in-law, Jon (Debi) Huskins & Pat (Devonique) Huskins.

Don was preceded in death by his parents and an infant son, Michael Joseph Harris.

Visitation will be held 10a-noon, Saturday, April 27, 2024, at Shirley & Stout Funeral Home & Crematory, 1315 W. Lincoln Road, Kokomo. The funeral service will be at noon, with Pastor Jerry Ausbrook officiating. Burial will follow in Albright Cemetery with military honors provided by the United States Navy and the Kokomo VFW Military Rites Team. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests sun-loving perennials that can be planted by their fishpond, a place where they enjoyed spending time, or contributions in Don’s name to the charity of their choice.
